DEVELOPMENT
We are pleased to announce that the BiblioWeb development has produced a beta version. Click here to test it. The new BiblioWeb is not just an improvement over the earlier version, it is completely rewritten and has taken the web publishing of bibliographic database to the next level.
Setup: The new BiblioWeb is not an CGI, ISAPI, or ASP like the earlier ones. It is a web server itself. So there is no setup work to do. Just double click BiblioWeb.exe and you are done. If you have another web server running on the same machine, you have to use another port.
Performance: Since the web server and database access are both inside a single application, the performance for searching, browsing, editing, etc. have been significantly increased. It can serve a large number of concurrent users without significant performance loss.
Folders: Bibliographic records are organized into folders. The new BiblioWeb has made folder management accessible through the web browser. Web user can move bibliographic records into different folders.
Lookup: An index of data fields with repeated values can be generated dynamically. For example, authors, journals, keywords, year, publisher, language, country, etc.
Import: User can import bibliographic records using web browser. There are 100+ import filters to choose, and more will be made available later.
Format: User can even format a document through the web. Document with temporary citations will be converted to document with formatted citations and bibliography according to a selected style. There are 200+ styles available, including most of the well journals.
The new Biblioscape web server has three level of user control "Read", "Write", and "Administer". It is well suited for both intranet use by research organizations, or internet publishing by bibliographic data source providers, researchers, etc. If you want to see a live example, click here to test it.
