Get started with Biblioscape

If you plan to use the Internet features in Biblioscape, you must have Internet access. Biblioscape's built-in web browser requires the installation of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Users can capture web based bibliographic database search results directly into Biblioscape database. Biblioscape also allows users to capture a Web page (along with graphics) into Biblioscape's Notes table. If you plan to post your bibliographic database on the Web, you need to have a permanent IP address.

If you work in a corporation, and want to share a common database among all users, there are 3 options:

Generate/diamond.gif    Put the common database on the file server.

Generate/diamond.gif    Set up Biblioscape for client/server use with BiblioRemote server.

Generate/diamond.gif    Use BiblioWeb server to make all basic features available through web browser.

Biblioscape knowledge base

If you want information about what you can do with Biblioscape, check out printed and online resources that are available. For in-depth information about certain Biblioscape features, you should visit the Biblioscape knowledge base Web site regularly.

Share import filters and output styles

Biblioscape uses Import Filters to parse bibliographic data from different sources. It uses Output Styles to generate formatted citations and bibliography. Both Import Filters and Output Styles can be shared among users. We maintain an Import Filter library and an Output Styles library at the Biblioscape Web site for users to download the latest ones. We also encourage users to share their custom made import filters and output styles by sending them to us by email. Both online libraries are updated regularly.
