What Are They and What Should I Do?

Update patches are usually bug fixes or feature enhancements for users who already have Biblioscape installed. For versions 3.x and 4.x, click on the appropriate hyperlink below and follow the instructions on the page for your version:

For version 5.x, the patch is self-installing. Click on the hyperlinked date below to download the patch file. When launching the self-installing patch file, be sure to install the patch to the root directory in which Biblioscape 5 is installed. If you open Biblioscape database through BiblioRemote server, please first run the patch on the server machine. The update history for the patches is given below.

1. User can now set a home page URL in "Tools | Options" window. Biblioscape's built-in browser will open the home page when first started. User can point the home page to a local html file with all favorite links.

In Biblioscape and BiblioExpress, when there is selected text in the Notes, Abstract, or Document fields before using the commands "Shoot Bibliography to Footnote" or "Shoot Bibliography to Endnote", the selected notes will be shot to your word processor and an endnote or footnote created after the text.
2. In Biblioscape, when there is selected text before using "Copy Temporary" or "Shoot Temporary", the selected text will be shot to the word processor before the temporary citation.

1. A "Save As" button has been added to the reference editor Document window and the Notes module note window. Once clicked, user will have the options to save the current document in RTF, Plain Text, and HTML format.

1. README: BiblioRemote server now uses port 12005 for data access and port 12006 for manager connection. If you use the BiblioRemote server, please go to "File | Database | Configure Remote Database". Open the *.bsr file and change the port number from 12001 to 12005. Under "...\Biblioscape 5\BiblioRemote\" folder, run "srvadmin.exe". Go to "File | Options". Change the port number from 12002 to 12006.
2. In References module, when connecting to a remote database, the "Tools | Advanced | Analyze References" doesn't work.
3. In References module, more sorting options are added to the style editor for the bibliography list. The following four options are now available: "Appearance Order", "Authors, Year, Title", "Authors, Title", and "First Author, Year, Other Authors".

1. Date stamping is improved. Biblioscape used to require the Windows system date format setting to be numerical; now, any kind of system date format setting will work (e.g. "July 27, 2002" previously would not have worked; now it does).

1. A new Word template file was added under the "Tools" sub-folder. This template is for Word version 9 and 10.

1. In References module, Biblioscape can now format and unformat Chinese with better results. The only problem left is: after unformat, the Chinese name will be lost in temporary citation. This problem won't affect formatted citations and bibliography.
2. If a temporary citation is formatted, the formatted citation can maintain the format. But once unformatted, the temporary citation will lose the original format.

1. In References module, when double clicking to search lookup list, Biblioscape gives an error message if the field is Year_pub.
2. In BiblioWeb, if clicking the search hyperlink generated by lookup list, BiblioWeb gives an error message if the search field is of type "Date" or if it is the "Year_pub" field.
