Analyze Your Reference Collection - November 13, 1998

Once your reference collection grows to a large number, you may want to know the following questions:
What are the most often used keywords for the whole collection?
Who are the most prolific authors in the field of my interest?
Which journal published the most number of papers about subject X?

With Biblioscape, you can find out the answers of above questions easily. First, Let's find out the most often used keywords for the whole reference collection. Click menu command "Tools | Advanced | Analyze References...", on "BiblioAnalyzer" window, select "Keywords" as "Field to Analyze", then click "Analyze" button.

Now, let's answer the second question. For example, you grouped all references related to your current research project under folder "Boronic Acid".
1, select that folder.
2, click menu command "Tools | Advanced | Analyze References...".
3, select "Author" as "Field to Analyze".
4, click "Options" tab, check "Records in current list" as "Dataset to analyze".
5, click "Analyze" button.

Once you know how to answer the second question, the third one is easy to do. Just do a search to retrieve all records about a certain subject based on a keyword, then analyze the journal field based on the records in current list. Don't be afraid of experimenting with other features like "Sort", "Order", "Retrieve", etc.
