The following text only applies to Biblioscape before version 5.
In order to use the ASP pages to post your database on the web, you need to install the latest Microsoft ODBE drivers and set up a Data Source Name (DSN). ODBC is a database middleware that sits between an application and the database.
1. First, download the latest ODBC drivers from Microsoft web site. Click here to get the latest one - Microsoft Data Access Components 2.1.
2. Double click the downloaded file to install it. You need to reboot your system after the installation.
3. The following steps will show you how to add a new data source (DSN) in ODBC, and point it to your Biblioscape database which uses Paradox tables. First, you need to run ODBC seup by go to Windows Task Bar "Start | Settings | Control Panel". Double click icon "ODBC Data Sources" to run the ODBC setup program.
4. Go to tab "System DNS", click "Add..." button to add a new DNS.
5. Select "Microsoft Paradox Driver (*.db)" since Biblioscape database is Paradox based by default.
6. Type "biblioweb_asp" as Data Source Name. Uncheck box "Use Current Directory" and click "Select Directory" button. Select the directory where your Biblioscape database resides. Click "OK" button to finish. DSN "biblioweb_asp" can not be used to post your database on the web using the ASP pages.
