Add Graphics to Biblioscape Database - July 10, 1999
You can add graphics to a bibliographic record easily. First, copy the graphic object into the Clipboard using your favorite graphic program. Then, go to Biblioscape. Double click a record in the list to go to "Record" mode. Click the "Document" tab. Move the cursor to where you want to insert the graphic and use shortcut Ctrl+V to paste the graphic object into document.
Note: There are two important things about using graphics in Biblioscape.
1. Reduce the Number of Colors
For most graphics, 256 colors (4 bits per pixel) is enough. So reduce the number of colors to 256 before pasting the grahics into Biblioscape. otherwise it will take unneccessary disk space and make Biblioscape slow to open the record. This is especially important if you use scanner to scan journal articles. The default number of colors for lots of scanners are set to 16 millions colors (24 bits per pixel). So be sure to reduce the number of colors before copying into Clipboard. For example, if you use "Paint Shop Pro", you can go to "Colors | Decrease Color Depth | ..." to decrease the number of color used.
2. Don't Put Records with Graphics into Default Folder
Since records with graphics takes longer time to open, do not put them into the default folder of Biblioscape (cause Biblioscape takes longer to start). The default folder is the first folder opened when Biblioscape started. You can put them into a sub-folder as shown below.
