Rename Bibliographic Database - November 24, 1999
Biblioscape database are made up of about 40 files. All files except one have the same name between two databases. So if you want to rename an existing database, it is not as easy as renaming a single file database. In the following example, we will rename an existing database "myNewDB" under directory "d:\temp7\" to "myNewDB_renamed".
1. Quit Biblioscape.
2. Start file manager, rename directory "d:\temp7\myNewDB\" to "d:\temp7\myNewDB_renamed\".
3. Open folder "d:\temp7\myNewDB_renamed", rename file "myNewDB.bsp" to "myNewDB_renamed.bsp".
4. Use Windows text editor "Notepad" to open the file "myNewDB_renamed.bsp" and change path name accordingly.
5. Open the file "c:\program files\biblioscape 3\global\dbReopen.txt" with text editor "Notepad" and change the path accordingly. Otherwise, the next time Biblioscape is started, it won't be able to find the renamed database.
6. The last step is to rename the words index files under "c:\program files\biblioscape 3\index\". Change all files with "myNewDB.*" to 'myNewDB_renamed.*". Otherwise, next time when Biblioscape is started, it has to build new words index tables.
