Create Word Dictionary File from Author Lookup Table - December 22, 2002

In a Microsoft Word document, if a word is spelled wrong, it will be marked with a red underline. When you write a paper, there maybe lots of scientific terminology and author names that word thinks they are spelled wrong. When there are too many red underlines, it will prevent you from finding the truly misspelled words. The following instruction shows you how to create a dictionary file for all the authors names exist in your Biblioscape database. So Word won't mark those names with red underlines.

1. In Biblioscape, go to "References | Search | Lookup". Select the field "Authors". Once the author lookup table is displayed, click the right mouse button to show a popup menu. Select "Create Word List" and save it as a "*.dic" file.

2. In Word, go to menu command "Tools | Options...". On the "Spelling & Grammar" tab, click the button "Dictionaries...". A "Custom Dictionaries" window will be displayed.

3. Click the "Add..." button to select the "*.dic" file you created in step 1.

Note: If you have lots of scientific terminology in the Keywords field, you can create another dictionary out of the Keywords field by following the same steps as diescribed above. That will prevent Word from marking all those terminology as misspelled words

Note: The dictionary files you created in the above steps can also be used by Biblioscape spell checker. First, go to "Tools | Spelling" in Biblioscape to start the spell checker. Then click on the "Options" button.

In the "User Dictionaries" section, click on the "Add" button and select the file you created in step 1.

Check the box before the newly added dictionary file. Otherwise, it won't be used. Biblioscape spell checker can also use Microsoft Word's custom dictionary. Click here to learn more about that.
